Fifth Grade Science

In science this year each month will have a different scientific focus or topic. We are starting out this September with, “What is Science?” Students will investigate, discuss, and write about the monthly topic. Some topics will be a review of ideas covered in previous grades, while other topics will be new to the students.

W. Alton Jones Environmental Education Center
W. Alton Jones Environmental Education Center is located in West Greenwich, Rhode Island and is part of the University of Rhode Island. Fifth graders spend three days and two nights learning about Social Studies and Science topics. This is a great opportunity for our students to enrich their curriculum through outdoor education. Some activities include; “Winter ecology, Geology, Living History, and the Underground Railroad.” To learn more about the center, visit their web site.
