Big SistersBig Sister Association of Greater Boston matches caring adult women (Big Sisters) with girls (Little Sisters) in supportive one-to-one mentoring relationships. Research has shown that a girl who has a Big Sister improves in her ability to form positive relationships with peers, parents/guardians, teachers, and other adults; demonstrates an increase in self-confidence; improvement in educational outcomes; and avoidance of negative risk behaviors such as skipping school; and experimenting with drugs, alcohol, and smoking.

Through Big Sister Association of Greater Boston's School-Based Mentoring Program, girls (Little Sisters) and their mentors (Big Sisters) meet at The Andrew Peabody School once a week for an hour during their lunch and recess period. They engage in an activity of their choosing that promotes and fosters communication and strengthens Big and Little Sisters relationship. Big Sister Association's team of Match Support Specialists checks in regularly to ensure the health of each Big and Little Sister match and to recommend a broad array of activities that they match might enjoy. Their recommendations encompass the themes of Health and Fitness; The Arts; Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (S.T.E.M.).
