From the Principal: September 2015

Dear Peabody Community:

Welcome to the 2015 – 2016 school year! This past week has been so exciting! Beginning with our Picnic in the Park, leading to our first day of school to our first day for our kindergarten, junior kindergarten and Special Start students. It has been a wonderful week!

We have much to look forward to this school year. As we nurture and watch our students grow, learn and evolve, we will marvel, as we always do, at the gift that witnessing this process is. I am anticipating this year to be one of our best yet. Each year, as we all work together, get to know each other, understand each other and learn from one another, our community grows stronger and better. I will be holding monthly parent coffees this year, starting in October. These will be informal and a place for us to connect with one another. Please look for the schedule in next week’s Planet.

The new school year or the beginning of school in general, can lead to a lot of questions. Please feel free to call me anytime, email me or arrange a meeting with me. I want you to know that your child’s success and your family’s needs are paramount to me. Even if you would just like to check in, I would enjoy the chance to talk and get to know you better.

Clubs will be starting in mid October. A schedule will go home soon. We are so grateful that so many family and staff members are willing to give their time to offer extra enrichment to our students. Please save the date for our annual Curriculum Night. This year we will gather on Wednesday, September 30th at 5:30 for pizza, followed by a brief meeting in the Auditorium at 6:00, then on to classrooms shortly thereafter. We hope your schedule will permit your attendance. Your children are also welcome members of this event; we will have childcare available in the cafeteria.

Thank you for a great start to this school year. I look forward to our time together and all we will share as a community.
