Build Our Kid's Success

Build Our Kids' Success (BOKS) is a JK-5 morning program that will meet before school from 8 - 8:40AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. BOKS is held in the Peabody School Gymnasium. Since students are only allotted 90 minutes of P.E. per week this program will help our students reach the recommended 60 minutes of daily vigorous physical activity. BOKS will prepare children for a day of learning and is an important step in helping children appreciate the benefits of exercise and healthy choices that will last a lifetime. BOKS was inspired by the book Spark by Dr. John Ratey of Harvard Medical School. Several studies establish that moderate to vigorous physical activity stimulates brain function and creates the physiological conditions for students to be ready to learn. BOKS directly addresses these points by getting kids moving in the morning to help boost their academic and physical performance, BOKS will also help improve students overall confidence and well-being. Fun physical activities and a different nutrition component will be taught each time students attend BOKS. Classes are also filled with team-oriented games and provide plenty of opportunity for cooperative play, since the program focuses on fun!

We believe BOKS will have a HUGE positive influence on our children and our school. We hope that you will share our enthusiasm for BOKS and encourage your child to take advantage of this outstanding before school program.

Students will need all required medical and permission forms completed and signed before they can participate in BOKS. Please click here for more information about BOKS and how you can support it in our school. Visit the BOKS website for more information.

Additional volunteers are needed! No formal training is required, just enthusiastic adult hands. You may volunteer one day or both. Please come to an upcoming BOKS session if you haven’t filled out a form but would still like your child to participate or if you’d like to get involved; introduce yourself to the other volunteers.
