Hello Parents and Guardians,
I'm taken aback of how much has been done since our sudden closure back in March. In 1985 when Aretha Franklin came out with,“Who’s Zoomin’ Who”, I’m sure she was not thinking of Zoom, Google, Telehealth, or any other technology platforms. But here we are; still standing.
Your students continue to engage and you continue to support them, as well as, manage your own careers, family life and mental health. This work from home is certainly not easy, and we applaud you for just being there.
As I mentioned to our staff, it feels like we are at that peak of the hill and now everything will be moving swiftly downhill. This family note will provide you with some quick dates for you to keep handy for the future.
Hopefully this week, families in JK-2 should begin receiving those enrichment/supportive resources. They should be arriving via Sterling Printers. Again, this is not additional work but rather supportive materials for students in the younger grades.
Kindergarten Open House will be on Thursday, June 4 from 1-2PM. For those prospective families, information has been mailed out. You should be receiving a Zoom Link to join. We can’t wait to see both new and familiar faces.
Students in fifth grade should have received an invite and signed up for Rising 5th Graders from RAUC which will take place on Friday, June 6 from 11am-12. Again, this will be a time to meet the 6th grade team, see some of their peers, ask questions, and engage in a few different activities with the Core Teaching Team. If your student(s) have not already signed up, please do so
We are arranging for a curb-side pick up of student items during the week of June 8 - June 12. Times will be arranged and varied to allow for some flexibility. Unfortunately, after June 12, the Peabody School cannot house storage due to the massive clean up/disinfecting that is needed during the summer. More information on schedule times to follow next week.
Hoping that you and your family are managing under the circumstances. I recently read about ten small ways to be kind to yourself and one struck me... Limit news and social media consumption. These things can be triggering to stressors so be mindful of that. Of course, stay tuned to things but just be mindful that these too, have an impact on us.
Please be well and do not hesitate to reach out with questions/concerns.
Best Regards,
Nadia Jeudy, Interim Principal
