Course Objectives
To
provide a safe and nurturing educational environment in which students
will challenge themselves and take appropriate risks in their learning.
To encourage discovery, and the pursuit of academic excellence through a
demanding, student-centered, and integrated curriculum. To develop a
life-long love of learning.
Instructional Methods
Respect
for diversity in students’ learning styles forms the cornerstone of our
teaching. Curricula will be delivered through class discussion,
cooperative learning groups, experiential/hands-on work, independent
research, and lecture/modeling.
Grading
Class/group participation; homework; projects; portfolio assessment; quizzes and tests; and conference notes
Activities
MIT
electrical quizboard project at Edgerton Lab. Possible visits to Museum
of Science and Harvard Museums. Other trips as opportunities arise.
Summary
The
home/school/community partnership is an important part of the fourth
grade experience. Together we will help students to reach their full
potential.
