From the Library: June 6. 2018
Thank you!
It is such a pleasure to work in a community that values books and libraries. Throughout the year Peabody families have shown their support in so many ways:
- Volunteering at the Book Fairs and in the library shelving books and helping classes,
- Donating books via the FoP Wish List,
- Helping your students keep track of books borrowed from the library, and
- Most important of all, reading and sharing books with your children so that they will know libraries are places of burgeoning ideas, varied perspectives, and lifelong learning.
Thank you for making it a joy to come to work every day!
Prepare for summer reading…
Summer is a great time to settle in with a great book (or two or three). While the school library is not open during the summer, there are a number of ways to get books into your child’s hands. The Cambridge Public Libraries offer a wonderful summer reading program; each year there is a theme, book suggestions for each grade level, and free events. This summer’s theme is Stories Rock! Look for flyers and the summer event brochure in your child’s backpack in June.
Another way for children to get great books is through TumbleBooks. TumbleBooks is an online library that offers read-alongs, ebooks, and literacy activities. All CPS students may use this resource from home. The password to use TumbleBooks is available in our library; be sure to get it before summer vacation!
