Dear Peabody Community:
What an exciting couple of weeks we’ve had – especially considering it’s all happening virtually!
Last week’s Kindergarten Open House was wonderful! Followed that evening by a really connecting Courageous Conversations meeting among our triad.
This week we filmed our JK and Kindergarten Graduation wishes from the staff (coming soon) and today we held a 5th grade moving on ceremony that brought many to (happy/bittersweet) tears.
We also used this week to distribute your student’s belongings and medications back to your families. We all agreed how wonderful it was to just see everyone “live and in person”.
This very odd isolation of only seeing people outside your family on screens has not been easy. I think many are craving person-to-person interaction during this time – I know I am. The latest brutalities that have occurred across our nation have only deepened this need for lots of us. I feel very fortunate to live in this city where voices can be heard and people are making very conscious efforts to try to make every person feel respected and represented. There is always work to be done when learning about one another’s experiences. I am appreciative that our community has committed to this important work together.
Next week will continue to be a whirlwind, as the last few days of school always are! It will be hard to say so long, especially because we do not know what September will bring as of yet. In the coming weeks, you will continue to hear from me regarding virtual summer programs and other important information as it comes along.
I know that many families have experienced change in either their jobs, or financial situations. Please continue to reach out to me if there is anything I can be helpful with.
Lastly, it is a sincere privilege to serve as your family liaison. These past three months, although crazy, have been very rewarding as well. I have received the gift of getting to know so many of you better than I ever have. I treasure that part of this. I have also been able to work with families across Cambridge, as I believe it’s important to look beyond my own walls and help and serve all of the children in our city.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Enjoy the beautiful weather – Also, I’ll be serving lunch at Peabody Monday, Wednesday and Friday of this week. We love seeing everyone when they drop by, please continue to do so!
Best wishes for continued good health and peace.
